On February 14, more than 40 CRPF jawans lost their lives in the Pulwama terror attack which shook the entire nation. As soon as the news broke, many B-town celebs came forward and offered their condolences to the suffering families on social media. Amitabh Bachchan went ahead and announced a total donation of Rs 2.5 crore for the families of the martyred jawans. Apart from him, the entire team of Uri: The Surgical Strike also contributed Rs 1 crore towards the Army Welfare Fund. Now the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has come forward and decided to make a donation as well.

On April 24,  the 89-year-old singer will be donating Rs 1 crore to the families of the Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country. If you’re wondering why that particular date then let me tell you that April 24 marks the death anniversary of her father, Master Dinanath Mangeshkar. While talking to a leading daily, Lata Mangeshkar confirmed the news and said, “Many people in the industry always help soldiers who sacrifice their lives for the nation. Even now, people from the industry are helping out. We have also announced something from our end.” Even on Twitter, when the singer had expressed her condolences to the families, she had asked all her fans to donate money as well instead of sending her gifts and cards.

Akshay Kumar, who will next be seen in Kesari, had also urged all his fans on social media to donate money via Bharat Ke Veer which is a fundraising initiative started by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. Coming back to the Pulwama attack, a member of the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed had rammed an explosive-laden SUV into a bus carrying CRPF personnel on February 14. The car exploded killing 40 CRPF jawans. In retaliation, the Indian Air force yesterday carried out a surgical strike and killed almost 300 terrorists.
