Navjot Singh Sidhu has found himself in deep waters following his unsavoury remarks on the recent Pulwama terror attack which shook the entire nation on February 14. Sidhu, who was part of The Kapil Sharma Show, was sacked by Sony Entertainment Channel after his comments caused huge outrage on social media. But the former cricketer-turned-politician’s controversy isn’t over as yet. According to the latest media reports, protests are being held inside the Punjab Assembly, demanding Sidhu’s resignation. High drama is unfolding in the Assembly session and it might cost Sidhu a lot more than what he must have expected.

While the country has come together and condemned the horrific terror attack, Sidhu’s insensitive remarks on the other hand have infuriated only the public but also his peers at the assembly. In his statement, instead of condemning the attacks as strongly as he should have, Sidhu simply said – “For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual?” He further added, “It (the attack) is a cowardly act and I condemn it firmly. Violence is always condemnable and those who did it must be punished.”

On Thursday, February 14, at least 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel lost their lives when a suicide bomber rammed his car full of explosives to the bus carrying the soldiers from Pulwana. Pakistan based terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed later claimed the responsibility for the same. The tragic incident brought everyone together, including cricketing and Bollywood personalities, in support of the martyrs and their suffering families. The film industry even observed the black period on Friday in the memory of the soldiers that were killed. In fact, FWICE has even vowed to boycott Pakistani artists and the cricketing bodies are also now considering to take some stern action.
