India and the whole world were shocked when a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist killed 40 CRPF jawans in a suicide attack. The Pulwama terror attack took place on February 14 and since then, the tension between India and Pakistan have been on the rise. India retaliated with a surgical strike on JeM terror camps in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan. Though India targeted terror camps and not civilians or military bases, our neighbouring country sent their air force and dropped bombs near our army establishments. There were several ceasefires thereafter and it seemed as if both countries were on verge of a war. Amidst all this, Bollywood filmmakers shocked one and all by registering film titles around the Pulwama attack. The success of Uri: The Surgical Strike might have prompted them but we felt it was really surprising!

Kalank has one of the most talked about films of 2019 and after seeing its just-released teaser we can say that everyone is excited already. The superstar cast includes Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur. The film is set to hit theatres on April 17. Other than the star cast, what is getting us most excited is seeing our favourite on-screen pairing Sanjay Dutt-Madhuri Dixit Nene back after 21 long years. While the two were allegedly dating back in the day, they haven’t worked together since they parted ways. But with Kalank, they have buried the hatchets and will be seen on the 70mm.

If this reunion of exes has gotten you nostalgic, here are some other  Bollywood couples who worked together in spite of parting ways on the personal front.

Madhuri Dixit Nene and Sanjay Dutt

Bollywood stars Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit are coming together for Kalank after 21 years. Over the last few years, there has been plenty of conjecture about the Jodi teaming up for a film. It took Karan Johar, Abhishek Varman and a dramatic period film about Partition to get their nod. While Sanjay plays an intense character (Balraj Chaudhary), Madhuri reportedly plays a courtesan and his ladylove. The actors will be seen promoting the film together.

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone were one of the most loved couples of Bollywood but after dating for around two years, they called it quits. However, the two came together for Ayan Mukerji’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and later for Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha in 2015.

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif were rumoured to share a very close friendship both on and off screen. Though they never confirmed their relationship, the whispers never stopped. Their relationship went kaput as Kat fell in love with Ranbir. Salman, who has always been supportive of Katrina, worked with her in his film Tiger Zinda Hai. Both the actors will now be seen in Bharat which will release in June this year.

Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan

The Jab We Met stars were dating for a couple of years and were quite open about their relationship status back in the day. However, they broke up and moved on. Now both of them are happily married to their respective partners. Kareena tied the knot with Saif Ali Khan whereas Shahid got married to Mira Rajput. However, the fans were waiting eagerly to see their favourite on-screen pairing again. After many years, the two featured together in Udta Punjab but sadly they didn’t have any scenes together.

Now that we have listed down the couples, tell us which pair would you like to see back on celluloid? Drop your thoughts in our comments section below and stay tuned to CineBlitz for more Bollywood news and gossip.

Soni Razdan’s No Fathers in Kashmir get U/A certificate from FCAT; CBFC’s approval pending

After 8 months of hard-fought battle, Oscar-nominated director Ashvin Kumar’s No Fathers in Kashmir starring Soni Razdan has got U/A certificate from FCA

Published at

8 months, 6 screenings and 7 hearings later, the film No Fathers in Kashmir has finally got the U/A certification from FCAT, the apex body which governs the final matters of certifications of films in India. Directed by Oscar-nominated director Ashvin Kumar, the filmmaker has faced a lot of delays and had to screen the movie twice, the last being just about a month ago in Kashmir. The film was pushed ahead drastically when there were delays with regards to its certification which eventually led to a delay in the screening of the film in India. After challenging the CBFC decision to give the film an ‘A’ certification, which the maker found unjustified, on the basis of the content of their movie, they moved to FCAT first in November with a hearing in December, and again later in January.

Now after a month of its second screening, FCAT has given its final order on the film asking for a few changes, including some cuts and disclaimers. The root cause of the issue was the delay the film underwent, which was against the very rules of the CBFC who refused to see the film. Upon seeing the film, they delayed the verdict giving it an ‘A’ certification in October, despite the film not promoting nudity, hatred, violence, gore or similar adult-worthy subjects.

“How does one make a film about hope when its subject rouses emotions like hate, fear and vengeance? This question haunted the six years it took to make this film.” – Ashvin Kumar. ' . . @nofathersinkashmir ’ (previously ‘Noor’), has been a film in making over the last six years. In this film, Oscar-nominated director Ashvin Kumar tells a coming-of-age story about innocence and the exuberance of being young and hopeful. After a year in development, the screenplay of the film was selected as one of eight projects for The Sundance Institute/Mumbai Mantra Lab 2014,. Under the mentorship of Oscar nominated screeen-writers Naomi Forner, Sooni Taraporewalla (The Namesake, Salaam Bombay), Ashvin went on to write over 43 drafts which finally became “No Fathers in Kashmir”. The script went on to win the Asia Pacific Screen Academy 2014 prestigious screenplay development award. #nofathersinkashmir #indiancinema #indianfilm #indiefilms #ashvinkumar #alipurfilms #kashmir #storytelling #lovestory #comingofage #younglove #filmmaking

The film stars Soni Razdan, Anshuman Jha and Kulbhushan Kharbanda. It traces the love story of two young 16-year-olds in search of their fathers who have gone missing in the valley. The filmmaker is ecstatic with this latest development. Director Ashvin Kumar was previously an Oscar Nominee for his short, Little Terrorist and has even won two National Awards for his feature films Inshallah Football and Inshallah Kashmir.

Speaking about it, director Ashvin Kumar said, “10 years ago in my film Inshallah Football, I had warned that alienating the youth of Kashmir would have catastrophic consequences. Censorship of the truth about Kashmir has caused a crisis of compassion, amplifying misguided fears of ordinary Indians towards ordinary Kashmiris. Keeping the public away from information and truth is such a myopic policy – it only breeds more hostility when the need of the hour is empathy, leading to peace. Anyone who genuinely wants peace will understand that we must first stop censoring films that tell the truth about Kashmir.”
