Zoya Akhtar’s latest directorial venture Gully Boy has been hitting all the right notes – be it with the audiences and critics or at the box office. Starring, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead, the film has impressed everyone including Hollywood actor-and-rapper Will Smith. The film, which had its world premiere at the 69th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival, even broke the opening day record of Padmaavat by raking in Rs 19.40 crore on its first day at the ticket windows in India. But amidst all this, Ranveer and Alia starrer has now hit a roadblock.
According to the latest reports, Gully Boy has become the latest victim of obnoxious torrent portal Tamilrockers. Apparently, the film was leaked online a few hours prior to its release on Thursday, February 14. For everyone who is unaware of Tamilrockers, let us tell us that every internet service provider has banned the notorious website and yet it has been operating swiftly under different domain names, with people accessing it with proxy servers. Though multiple actions have been taken by law enforcement agencies and the Cybercell division, the torrent website somehow continues to leak movies online.
Recently, the Hindi film fraternity biggies like Siddharth Roy Kapur, Omung Kumar and Indra Kumar had praised Union Cabinet for making amendment to the Cinematograph Act 1952 by making piracy punishable for up to three years to tackle the menace of film piracy and copyright infringement. Now let’s hope these changes are also executed or else Bollywood as an industry will end up suffering the most financially. For more such updates and news from Bollywood, stay tuned to Cine Blitz
