At the launch event of Gully Boy’s trailer, Ranveer Singh was his usual energetic self and entertained everyone present with his rapping. Picking up a line from the rap song Apna time ayega, a journalist asked him if he believes his time has come, considering his films were hits in 2018, while the Khan’s weren’t. He smartly utilized the opportunity of declaring himself King at the Box Office, without actually saying it himself. All he did was to ask the journalist to repeat the question! He wanted the question to be heard again by everyone. While everyone was laughing at his smart move he later replied that, ‘I am happy that my films are getting success at the Box- Office but I do not like it if anyone else’s film doesn’t work. I want everyone from the industry to do well with their films.’
In 2018, Ranveer had two huge successes – Padmaavat at the beginning of the year and Simmba right at the end. Both these films earned phenomenal numbers and the characters he played were poles apart. Now after many years there is someone else apart from the Khans who the trade can depend on to set the cash registers ringing! Ranveer was also in the news constantly, especially after his dream wedding with Deepika Padukone.
In his upcoming film Gully Boy Ranveer is playing the role of a street rapper. The look of the film is interesting and it is likely that he will surprise audiences with his performance again. Alia Bhatt is paired opposite him in the film, and Zoya Akhtar has directed it. The film is slated to release on February 14, 2019.
