While she may not have locked in a script, we can confirm that she is keen on working with Ranveer Singh yet again. Though Zoya has not finalised a script, we can also tell you the genre that she is now keen to explore on the big screen.
CineBlitz has exclusively found out that Zoya is keen to make a two-hero project next, of which Ranveer is one lead. That’s not all. Zoya is looking forward to making a gangster film. For this she is also considering on buying the remake rights of the hit Hollywood gangster dramas The Departed (2006) and Gangs of New York (2002). Both the films starred Leonardo DiCaprio and have been directed by Martin Scorsese. However, the films will be adapted to suit and be based in Mumbai.
A source tell us exclusively, “Zoya’s next will be a two-hero film and she is looking at buying the remake rights of a Hollywood gangster film very much like The Departed or Gangs of New York. She wants to take a film and adapt it for our desi audience, and it will be set in Mumbai too. She is also on the lookout for the second lead.”
If the project takes off, it will be Ranveer Singh’s third film with Zoya Akhtar after Dil Dhadakne Do and the most recent Gully Boy.
