Kabir Khan With Mahendra Singh Dhoni Roar Of The Lion

Not too long ago, we saw Sushant Singh Rajput essay the role of India’s captain cool MS Dhoni on the big screen in the biopic MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. The Neeraj Pandey directorial venture bowled us over and so did Dhoni’s journey. Now to charm us further, director Kabir Khan is bringing a docu-drama series which features captain cool himself. It would indeed be amazing to hear the inspiring story from the horse’s mouth itself, no? While the biopic showed Dhoni’s glorious journey to fame, this upcoming docu-drama will delve deeper. It will bring forth the side of MS Dhoni who led the Chennai Super Kings to victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last year. The IPL franchise was going through a turbulent period after getting banned for 2 years due to the match-fixing scandal.

While we are excited to see another dimension of Dhoni’s life, Kabir, on the other hand, made a very interesting revelation about the star cricketer at the launch event of Roar of the Lion. Talking about an unseen side of MS Dhoni, Kabir said, “Captain Cool has always been an illusion in front of the camera. I was shocked as the first interview we did went on for 8 hours. I have never in my life seen anyone speak for 8 hours. This was a man who is supposed to not be speaking too much. But I think it showed his passion for the story. What I could see through captain cool’s mask, I could actually see the human being. There were certain things that made him emotional, sentimental, he felt about certain issues. And that is what made everybody in that room realise that this story is worth telling. You will discover the captain cool through this show.”

Kabir, who is also the executive producer of the docu-drama web series, added, “It has been an exciting, stressful and demanding process but I am glad it has all come together the way it has.” MS Dhoni’s story unfolds with Roar of the Lion from March 20 onwards only on Hotstar. Till then, stay tuned to CineBlitz for more interesting Bollywood updates and news!
