Sanjay Dutt’s Kalank has a Sunil Dutt connection – here’s how!

That Kalank is one of the most awaited films of this year is a known fact. Starring Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit Nene in the lead, the magnum opus is love saga set in the 1940s. We all know that Sanjay Dutt was very close to his father Sunil Dutt. The two shared a special bond and we got to see that in Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanju as well. Interestingly, even Kalank has a Sunil Dutt connection and that’s one reason why Sanjay holds the film very close to his heart. The 59-year-old actor plays the role of Balraj in the film and what most of you don’t know is that Sunil Dutt’s real name was also Balraj. Talking about the same, Dutt said, “It’s such an irony that my character is named Balraj in Kalank as not many know that my father’s real name was Balraj. The recalling of the name is so close to me, hence, during the shoot, it was a very surreal experience when I was addressed. This character is extremely special for me and I’ll cherish it for my life,” to leading daily.”

Kalank is very dear to Karan Johar as well who has co-produced the film along with Sajid Nadiadwala and Fox Star Studios. It was the last script that his late father Yash Johar worked on and therefore KJo has left no stone unturned in making this film. Kalank is also special because Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit have come together for a film after 22 years. No wonder, everyone is excited to see this hit jodi on the big screen once again.
