Sanjay Leela Bhansali to produce film on India’s surgical strike at Balakot – read details inside

After the deadly Pulwama attack, India and Pakistan’s grave situation grabbed headlines all across the globe.  In retaliation, an air strike was carried out by the Indian Air Force in Balakot, destroying the training camps of Jaish-e-Mohammed. While this stern action was appreciated by all Indians, soon everyone will be able to witness this historic episode on the big screen as well. Yes, you heard that right. A report in a leading tabloid suggests that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set to produce a film which will showcase the recent air strike on 70mm. Reports in a tabloid state that SLB has joined hands with T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar, filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor and producer Mahaveer Jain for the film.

Currently, the untitled film is in the research and development stage and is likely to go on floors by mid-2019. A source close to the film also revealed to the tabloid that the film is being made as a tribute to the Indian Air Force and a major part of the profit will directly go to the welfare fund of the armed forces. The casting of the film is underway and some A-list actors have been showing interest in the film. Coincidentally, even actor John Abraham said at the RAW (Romeo Akbar Walter) trailer launch today that he would not mind playing Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman’s role if offered. While Bhansali will be producing the film, Abhishek Kapoor is going to direct it.

The makers have also approached the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association with various titles but we will have to wait a little longer to know which one actually gets finalized. On February 26, after Indian Air Force carried out an air strike, Pakistan violated the LOC (Line Of Control) and Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman shot down a Pakistani F-16 jet. Unfortunately, Vathaman’s aircraft was also shot down and he had to land in the enemy territory, after which he was held captive for almost 60 hours by the Pakistan army. Now while we can’t wait to see all this on the big screen, you guys tell us who should play the role of Wing Commander Abhinandan in the film?
