Shabana Azmi’s recent comment saying people who criticise the government are termed anti-national, got the actress a lot of backlash. Today the actress gave it back to the trollers by lashing out at them in a very creative way.
In her first tweet Shabana quoted a couplet from the famous poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s poem and wrote, “Bol ke lab Aazaad hain tere Bol zabaan ab tak teri hai… Bol ke sach zinda hai ab tak Bol jo kuch kehna hai keh ley.” In her second tweet the actress talking about being called ‘selective’ wrote, “4 d record in Safdar Hashmi murder I took on HKL Bhagat of Congress publicly.I challenged Imam Bukhari on national TV 4 which he called me a naachnewali n was condemned by both Houses of Parliament.Hve spoken against triple talaq n halala repeatedly so who is selective ?”

Shabana Azmi, was recently honoured with the Kunti Mathur Award to recognise her work for women, was present at the award ceremony. It was while addressing the audience that she talked about the current political scenario. The actress put forth her view that anyone who criticises the government is branded as anti-national. She also said how no one needs to give a certificate to prove their stand. This didn’t go down too well with many who trolled her for it.
