Shahid Kapoor roped in for yet another South remake!

Shahid Kapoor is currently working on Kabir Singh which is a remake of the South superhit Arjun Reddy. And it looks like the star has already signed on yet another remake of a South blockbuster. There are reports circulating that the Arun Vijay-starrer Thadam is going to be remade in Hindi and that Shahid Kapoor has been zeroed in as the lead already. Notebook co-producers Murad Khetani and Ashvin Warde have acquired the remake rights of this investigative thriller that was directed by Magizh Thirumeni and stars Arun Vijay and Tanya Hope.

Murad Khetani and Ashvin Warde are currently working with Shahid on Kabir Singh. And impressed with his work, looks like the filmmakers have roped him in to take up the Arun Vijay role. From what we know Shahid has read the script and likes it a lot. He is expected to sign the project soon and if all goes as planned, we should be hearing an announcement real soon. The film is scheduled to kick-start their first schedule in the second half of the year. Though Shahid fits the bill straight away, the camp is still on the lookout for their director for the project. Reports have also been coming about two sets being built for this film – while one will be set in Chennai, the other one will be up North.

Thadam is a gripping action-thriller where the murder of a young man creates confusion with the investigative agencies when the suspect turns out to be a lookalike. The Telugu film was much-appreciated for its screenplay that brought out magic on the big screen wowing audiences. As for Shahid, he was last seen in Batti Gul Meter Chalu and Padmaavat before that. He is currently working on Sandeep Vanga’s directorial Kabir Singh which is a remake of the Telugu film Arjun Reddy.
