Yesteryear superstar Shatrughan Sinha recently attended a book launch event along with his wife Poonam Sinha where he expressed his desire to make a comeback in films and also spoke about the #MeToo movement.

On February 6, Shatrughan Sinha and his wife Poonam Sinha made their presence felt at the launch of Dhruv Somani’s latest book A Touch of Evil. While interacting with the media, the actor-turned-politician revealed that he would love to do a comedy film as his comeback. The veteran actor said, “I have come to this event leaving all stuff behind and I want Dhruv to write something that is comedy and I would love to work in a comedy film in the future.” Considering the 72-year-old didn’t have any success in the genre back in the day, it would surely be interesting to see him start his second innings with a comic venture.

However, what he said next raised many eyebrows and that could very well hamper his chances for making a successful comeback. Addressing the #MeToo movement, Shatrughan Sinha made a rather unpleasant comment on the subject and we think it might upset a lot of people. Talking about the movement, he said, “Today is the time of the #MeToo, and there shouldn’t be any shame or hesitation to say that behind a man’s fall is also a woman.” Sonakshi Sinha’s daddy dearest also added that he is proud that his name hasn’t been dragged in any of the cases.

At the event, Shatrughan Sinha’s statement obviously ruffled a few feathers and hence he was asked if he was making fun of the movement. To this, he replied saying, “Don’t take it otherwise. Please take it with plain sense of humour, though I highly appreciate and applaud the women who better late than never came forward. I salute their courage and guts. But beyond this, I don’t want to go further at this hour because it’s a book launch and we should not cross our limits. But having said this, I understand what you are saying and I am highly supportive of what you have said.”

Though Sinha said that his statement should be taken in a humours context, we think he might just find himself in another controversy courtesy his not-so-funny comment.
