It is not an easy task bearing the burden of a disease and especially one like cancer. Many of our Bollywood stars have faced it and come out shining. Women are known to be stronger than they appear, and some star ladies have already proved that. In the past few years, three influential women were detected with this dreaded disease, but the way they dealt with it was truly inspiring. For us, they are the examples of how to have a positive perspective towards life and living it to the fullest. Let’s have a look at their journey with cancer and how they dealt with it.
Sonali Bendre

Sonali Bendre, late last year, revealed that she has been diagnosed with metastatic cancer. Sonali was being treated in New York, and she was constantly giving us insights from her journey which was inspiring. Throughout her treatment, she kept posting heartfelt messages for her husband, her son and her family and fans through her social media handles. She was lauded when she shared on social media her bald picture which looked beautiful. Considering that losing hair for a lady is a nightmare, it is the worst side effect that chemotherapy has. Sonali rocked the bald look and returned to India a few days back. She hasn’t recovered completely yet, and will take time. But we completely endorse her spirit and strength with all our heart.
Tahira Kashyap Khurrana

Though this lady is not a celebrity, she has become a superstar for us. With her strength to deal with her disease and not having a single low day, Tahira has made her place in a million hearts. Last year, Ayushmann Khurrana’s wife Tahira, was diagnosed with Stage 0 cancer for which she underwent surgery, but the disease persisted, going on Stage 1 later. Tahira, in a way, took the world on this journey with her and we are very happy to be with her. Few days ago, she posted a video on Instagram with her husband on her last chemo. It was yesterday that she gave out a boss lady image of her new bald look. Tahira is an inspiration to many, she might have had days when she felt low due to the effects, but she didn’t let that show on her face or in her attitude. She went ahead and made public appearances and attended events with her husband, and we respect her for that.
Manisha Koirala
Manisha Koirala was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012. She underwent treatment for six months in America. She was the very first star to show the world her journey with this disease. Manisha was declared okay later, and she appeared on various platforms to make people aware about the disease and how to deal with it. One of the most famous is the Ted Talk that she gave in 2017 which was titled ‘How to find meaning when reality hits you’. She talked about her complete journey, how she came to know about it, her down days, a doctor she didn’t know personally coming to her help and so on. It is inspiring to hear her and motivation for the ones going through it. Moreover, Manisha has penned her journey in a book titled Healed, which was released just last week.
These ladies will be remembered for their battles with the grit they have shown. Today, they are role models for many and a ray of hope for those who are suffering from the dreaded ‘C’. Our prayers and love to all three of them, and to everyone who is dealing with it.
