Sooryavanshi: Katrina Kaif or Jacqueline Fernandez – who will play mum to the 8-year-old?

Will she? Won’t she? The question has been looming large in trade circles as far as the casting of the lead heroine for Akshay Kumar-starrer cop caper Sooryavanshi is concerned. While Katrina Kaif has been zeroed in for the Rohit Shetty film, she is yet to sign the dotted line. Meanwhile, Jacqueline Fernandez is also said to be another strong contender for the role. The film is currently in pre-production and the release date has already been announced. The film is slated for an Eid release next year (2020). But while the dates are being worked out, the cause for the delay has become quite the fodder for gossip in the industry. Read on to find out what all the buzz is:

There’s buzz that Katrina Kaif’s character in Sooryavanshi maybe that of a mother of an eight-year-old. According to insiders, Katrina’s character in the film is shown to have a young son. The fact that she is playing a mother may not go down too well with the star’s fans. However, she has already played a mother in Salman Khan-starrer Tiger Zinda Hai  clearly indicates that she this may not be a likely factor to deter her from signing the role. The other factor that could come into play is the fact that the film as of now is slated to release in Eid, which would mean a clash with Salman Khan-Alia Bhatt starrer Inshallah that is being directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Now, Katrina is not the kinds to be wary of clashes, however here it involves a clash with Salman Khan. This may lead her having second thoughts too. Well, what do you think the reason most likely is that’s causing a delay in casting Katrina Kaif in Sooryavanshi? This inspite of the fact that she shares a great chemistry with Akshay on the big screen – in fact the two will be seen together after nine years.

Meanwhile, Jacqueline Fernandez – who has also paired opposite Akshay in Brothers (2015) where she played a mother to their young daughter – is also being considered to avoid any delays in the shoot. The actress has also starred alongside Akshay in 3 Housefull installments, although she was paired opposite him only in the third one. The duo makes an impressive jodi too.
