Sridevi’s last movie, Mom to release in China on March 22 – read details

Mom – which is Sridevi’s last film in a major role – is set to release in China. The film which was the late star’s last big screen outing in the lead role is slated to release in China on March 22. The revenge thriller directed by Ravi Udaywar also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film revolves around a mother, Sridevi, who seeks to avenge a crime committed against her step-daughter and punish the ones involved. For her sterling performance in the film, Sridevi was even posthumously honoured with a National Award for Best Actress in 2017. Interestingly, the film also marked the star’s 300^th big screen outing.

 The announcement was made by Sridevi’s husband, producer Boney Kapoor two days after the late actress’ first death anniversary (February 24). The film will be released with Chinese subtitles. The news is obviously a good one for her fans there who would get to see the much-loved actress once again on the big screen. Also trade-wise the film releasing there is good news, feel industry experts as an increasing number of Hindi films are cracking the Chinese film markets. Most recently, the Aamir Khan-Amitabh Bachchan starrer Thugs of Hindostan was also released in China and the film did very good business too. The film had released there on December 28, 2018. 

Meanwhile, the late star’s co-actor in Mom, Nawazuddin had shared his photograph with Sridevi, from a press conference they had attended for Mom in 2017, on the social media. Along with the photograph, the actor had posted on his Instagram page: “It’s still unbelievable that on this day, we lost our first and the only Female Superstar #SrideviJi. I was fortunate to work with her, thanx to @BoneyKapoor Sir for the opportunity. More power to the family.”  What do you think of the star’s film Mom releasing in China?
