Sunny Deol gets notice as his election expenses cross the Rs 70 lakh limit

Actor-turned-BJP parliamentarian Sunny Deol, has received a statutory notice from the election authorities for exceeding the poll expenditure limit which is set at Rs 70 lakhs for all the Lok Sabha election candidates.

The notice that was directed at Sunny to “reconcile” his poll expenditure was issued by Gurdaspur District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Vipul Ujjwal. However, Vijar Ujjwal refused to estimate the total expenditure and asked to wait. “The final figure of Sunny Deol’s poll expenditure will be known only after the reconciliation and settlement of the accounts. It is too early to comment on overspending right now”.

According to the sources, the preliminary calculations for Sunny Deol’s expenditure sum up to Rs 86 lakh as of now. Vipul Ujjwal said that every candidate has got this notice which is very normal procedure and the process will get finished by June 23.

Sunny Deol’s father Dharmendra and his stepmother Hema Malini are also one of the candidates of BJP. Sunny Deol was elected the MP from the Lok Sabha seat in of Gurdaspur in Punjab, after he defeated Congress candidate Sunil Jakhar by a margin of 82,459 votes.
