The Lok Sabha Election 2019 has been a turbulent ride, and the results have created a dramatic environment that we are not likely to forget for a very long time. We saw Sunny Deol make his debut in the political arena on a BJP ticket. Sunny Deol was contesting for the Gurudaspur constituency in Punjab, and it turned out to be a victory for him there. Sunny won all four seats in the constituency that are Hindu-dominated, but had a road-block in the areas held by the Akali Dal, an alliance that has already put strain between the two partners.

Bhartiya Janta Party and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) hold a joint alliance in the constituency that Sunny Deol was contesting from. However, in the seat-sharing agreement, the BJP holds four seats, and the SAD has the remaining five under them. The road-block we mentioned is the fact that the BJP turned out to be victorious in all the Hindu-dominated areas, but it looks like the Jat Sikh community has not accepted Sunny. All five areas where the Jat Sikhs are in vast numbers, was where Sunny lost. While Sunny won the voting rounds at Bhoa, Sujanpur, Pathankot and Dinanagar, he lost Fatehgarh, Churian, Dera Baba Nanak, Qadian and Gurudaspur. This shows that the Akali Dal failed to come out in support of the debuting politician-actor.

If reports are to be believed, this matter is being presented at the party headquarters in New Delhi, and the BJP leaders have also claimed that it is high time for the party to reconsider their alliance with the Dal.
