If there’s one thing that’s getting as much attention as Sushant Singh Rajput and Bhumi Pednekar’s acting chops in the trailer of the dacoit drama Sonchiriya then it’s their authentic rustic looks. And while the raw and rustic looks are being appreciated, seems like it wasn’t a very clean experience for them or the cast of the Abhishek Chaubey film. An insider reveals that to lend realism to the characters, the entire starcast of the film had to shoot in one outfit respectively.
The insider says, “The look that was required was very rustic, dusty and raw. So, the entire starcast of the film has completed the shoot with only one outfit respectively. On top of that, none of the outfits were sent to the laundry to keep the continuity and authenticity intact.” The source adds that as the film progressed, the outfits kept getting dirtier, but the Sonchiriya team was very keen on using the same outfit, giving it a realistic feel. “So yes, if the starcast are looking dusty and dirty, it was because they weren’t allowed to wash their outfits,” the insider adds.
The film is set in a small town in the 1970s that is dominated by dacoits. There are constant gangs-fights over the struggle to attain power. The outfits and fierce avatars are in sync with the theme of the film. A power-packed action film, Sonchiriya is directed by Abhishek Chaubey and stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Bhumi Pednekar, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey, and Ashutosh Rana in lead roles. Shot in the valleys of Madhya Pradesh with the dacoit menace there as a central theme, Sonchiriya has been produced by Ronnie Screwvala and is slated to release on February 8, 2019.
