Currently, a lot of tension is brewing between India and Pakistan following the deadly terrorist attack that happened in Pulwama last week, on February 14. The tragic incident was so harrowing that a lot of stern actions have already been taken by the Hindi film fraternity to condemn the attack. While Navjot Singh Sidhu was fired from The Kapil Sharma Show for his insensitive remarks, a lot of filmmakers and stars, on the other hand, have decided not to release their upcoming films in Pakistan. In fact, Pakistani artists have also been banned from working in Bollywood.
But that’s not all. Even people from Pakistan are condemning the Pulwama attack on social media and have been using #AntiHateChallenge on Twitter to voice their outrage against war and terrorism. Appreciating this movement, the unapologetically outspoken Swara Bhaskar today tweeted back to the young Pakistanis and accepted their condolences. The Veere Di Wedding actress shared a collage on her Twitter timeline and wrote, “Thank you friends from #Pakistan for this message of condolence and peace. Laudable initiative by young Pakistanis. We hear you! ❤❤ #Pulwama”
Pakistani journalist Sehyr Mirza was the one who took the initiative to start the #AntiHateChallenge on Twitter with the intention to diffuse the growing tensions between the two neighbouring countries. Mirza made a post about her campaign which soon went viral and since then her movement has caught great traction on social media. She kick-started the campaign by posting, “We’re deeply disturbed over the tragic terror attack that claimed innocent lives in Kashmir. In such testing times, we need more sane voices to speak out against war and terrorism. We have initiated this #AntiHateChallenge to not only condemn the attack but also express solidarity with our Indian friends. Requesting Pakistani fellows, who share our feelings to please, join in.”
She further quoted a poem written by Indian lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi. “Whether blood be ours or theirs, it’s the blood of humankind. Whether wars be waged in the east or west, It is the murder of world-peace.Whether houses be bombed or borders, The temple of the Soul is wounded.War is a problem itself. How will war resolve problems? Today it will rain fire and blood, Tomorrow, hunger and scarcity.” #AntiHateChallenge #WeStandWithIndia #NoToWar #CondemnPulwamaAttack
