The Tashkent Files directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, revolves around the mysterious death of the second Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri. The film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Naseeruddin Shah, Shweta Basu Prasad, Pankaj Tripathi, Vinay Pathak, Pallavi Joshi, Prashant Gupta, Ankur Rathee, Prakash Belawadi and Mandira Bedi. The film was a success as it garnered much appreciation from the audience as well as critics.

Now after the success of The Tashkent Files, the filmmaker is all set to come up with his next, The Kashmir Files. The film title explains that the story will be based on the lives of the Kashmiri Pandits. The filmmaker has been working closely with the activists in Kashmir and plans to visit the places all over the world where the Kashmiri Pandit refugees have settled to record the first-hand account of the victims. Currently, he is doing recce for the film which will help his story further.
