This is what Deepika Padukone has to say about Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Dev!

The global icon, Deepika Padukone recently met Romi Dev, whose character she is portraying in her upcoming film ‘83. Romi Dev is the wife of Kapil Dev, the legendary cricketer on whose life the film ‘83 is based, and Deepika met Romi Dev in London where she is shooting for the film alongside husband Ranveer Singh. Upon meeting her, Deepika shared with us, “I feel so inspired every time I meet her. She has an extremely refreshing energy, is intelligent, knowledgeable, and funny”.

Talking about one quality she admires about Romi’s most she said, “I like her candour. Romi ji is someone who is extremely honest and when she needs to express herself, she does it with a lot of dignity. I like the way she conducts herself with so much grace”.

Before joining the team of ‘83 for her shoot schedule in the London Deepika Padukone had multiple interactions with Romi to get the nuances of her character right. In fact, the first time the actress met Romi Dev was at her wedding reception last year. Since then the actress has been said to minutely observe her so as to imbibe the essence of her entirety while impersonating her in the film.

The actress is known for her versatile choice of films and her de-glam role for Chhapaak of ‘Lakshmi’ is proof that the actress is a perfect blend of a critically and commercially proven actor who has essayed a variety of strong and powerful roles. She has actively been involved in prepping for both the characters and grasp the nuances so as to get into the skin of both which also happen to be in stark contrast with each other.
