Noted filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia has time and again proven his mettle as an actor as well. The National Award winning director has in fact made quite impactful big screen outings – after all, who can forget Ramadhir Singh of Gangs of Wasseypur and Gangs of Wasseypur 2. Besides, these two, Dhulia has also acted in several others including Zero, Manjhi – The Mountain Man and Hero. And now the filmmaker is playing a rather important role in his own directorial Milan Talkies that stars Ali Fazal. The filmmaker will be seen playing Fazal’s father in the film, who is a failed actor.

While the filmmaker reveals that he has enjoyed and loved his stints as an actor, Tigmanshu Dhulia in an exclusive interview with CineBlitz admitted that he will never act in his own directorial again. “I have earlier acted in my directorial Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster, but it was a guest appearance. In Milan Talkies, I have a full-fledged role and I swear iske baad main kabhi dono ek saath nahin karoonga,” laughed Dhulia. On a serious note he adds, “It became distracting for me as an actor to keep up with direction too and vice-versa. It’s not easy juggling both. When I was in front of the monitor I was worried about what’s happening from the director’s perspective. And likewise I couldn’t even concentrate on my look when I was directing.”

However, Dhulia does admit that he has enjoyed the role both in front of the camera as well as behind it. “I liked the character. But that is not why I am acting in it. We couldn’t get any actor to play the father in time, so I took it up,” he shared. Milan Talkies also marks the Bollywood debut of the hit South actress Shraddha Srinath who plays the lead opposite Ali Fazal. Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia the film is slated to release on March 15.
