“I don’t know what to tell or how to tell, my heart is full of sadness. Ever since I heard about Lataji, I cried. Lata ji and I were very close. She sang in many of my films. Every single song he sang became an absolute hit. The song from the movie Madhumati – Aaja Re Paredasi… was a favourite of both of us. Its tune, melody, lyrics… everything was very well made. Bimal da had shot well”, says Vyjayanthimala according to the portal granthshala.in
“Lata ji decided to give me the Dinanath Mangeshkar Award. For this I got a call from her and she started saying that you have to come for this. I went to receive the award at the hands of Lata ji. It was a great function. During this she also presented me with a beautiful Maharashtrian saree, which she herself had chosen for me. She also said that she had chosen herself for me. After that we did not get any such chance of meeting. This was our last meeting. But Lata will live in my heart forever and ever. All I can say is that she was God’s gift. In Sangam, the song Bol Radha Bol Sangam Hoga Ki Nahi was sung by Lata ji, but I had to utter just three words myself – Nahi and Hoga Hoga and Lataji praised me by telling me that my voice was very good. It was a very big compliment for me to hear such compliments about myself that too from her mouth. May her soul rest in peace, this is my prayer.”
