Urmila Matondkar seeks police protection after Congress and BJP supporters clash – watch video

As the Lok Sabha elections for the year 2019 have commenced in full swing, candidates have been vigorously campaigning to gain votes for their respective political parties, in hopes of gaining some advantage in the polls. Shortly after a campaign rally for veteran actress Urmila Matondkar, candidate of Congress in Borivali (Mumbai) had concluded, a group of people started raising slogans of Narendra Modi while the opposition group started chanting “Chowkidar Chor hai”. This created a violent, rage-fuelled rift between the crowd leading to Congress supporters hitting the youngsters in Borivali station (east).

As the pandemonium progressed, a lady was injured which only increased the tension swirling in the air. As police were trying to keep the crowd under control, the situation only seemed to escalate and get more volatile by the minute, before eventually (finally) dying down. Later, Matondkar asked for police protection while the campaigns and elections were going on. When we tried to get in touch with Urmila there was no response from her end. Watch video:

Urmila will be contesting the election from Mumbai North constituency, a seat held by Govinda. She has stated that she will be approaching people as their representative, and not a Bollywood star.
