Veteran Bollywood actress Shashikala passed away at 88

Veteran Bollywood actress Shashikala passed away in her Mumbai residence on Sunday, April 4, 2021, although official confirmation from her family is awaited. The 88-year-old actress was living with her granddaughter at their Colaba home.

Senior NCP leader Praful Patel tweeted: “Senior NCP leader Praful Patel tweeted: “Deeply saddened by the demise of Veteran actress Shashikala ji. She made a noteworthy contribution to Indian cinema by portraying several pivotal roles. My heartfelt condolences to her family members. May her soul rest in peace Folded hands. #Shashikala #RIP.”

Shashikala made a mark in Bollywood films with her performance in supporting roles and negative roles. She acted in more than 100 films including Junglee, Ayee Milan Ki Bela, Chhote Sarkar, Nau Do Gyarah, Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani, Khubsoorat, Baadshah, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi among others.

The veteran actress was honoured with the prestigious Padma Shree award in 2007 for her contribution to Indian cinema.
