Hrithik Roshan’s grand father and veteran filmmaker J Om Prakash passed away in Mumbai. He was 93. Actor Deepak Parashar confirmed the news on Twitter. He wrote , “My dearest uncle Mr J Om Prakash passed away, so saddened as he joins his friend my Mamaji Mohan Kumar in heaven.Their contribution to Indian cinema is a gift they left behind for us.”
J Om Prakash was a very popular film producer and director with many hit films to his credit. Some of the films directed by him were the super-hit Aap Ki Kasam that starred Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz; Aakhir Kyon starring Smita Patil; Aasha starring Reena Roy and Aadmi Khilona Hai. He produced box office hits Aas Ka Panchhi, Aaye Din Bahar Ke, Aaya Sawan Jhoom Ke and Aankhon Aankhon Mein. He also produced the critically acclaimed film Aandhi.
As you can notice, all of his films have titles beginning with the letter ‘A’, which he was superstitious about. His daughter Pinky is married to Rakesh Roshan, father to superstar Hrithik Roshan. J Om Prakash was cremated in Mumbai today, with Hrithik carrying out the last rites.
