Vicky Kaushal gets heavily trolled for his picture as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw – read details

Vicky Kaushal took everybody by surprise when he announced his next project along with sporting a look of his character. His next is based on the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. While the initial response to look was welcoming, due to his uncanny resemblance to the field marshal, later many noticed and got upset about Vicky Kaushal’s uniform in the picture that had the rank details completely wrong. And not only the actor, but even director Meghna Gulzar was heavily trolled for their negligence about the same. Well, other than netizens Vicky was also slammed by producer Ashoke Pandit for his picture.

Addressing the issue, film industry’s spokesperson Ashoke Pandit gave Meghna Gulzar a clean chit saying that she was not consulted over the picture that Vicky Kaushal had put out. A media report quoted him saying, “She is an extremely responsible and accomplished filmmaker. Her films Talvar and Raazi prove her to be much more than a frivolous entertainer. If she has taken on the task of putting Field Marshall Manekshaw’s story on the screen, she would make sure she has all the research in place and she would most definitely consult the army experts on the uniform, etc.”

In the report, Ashoke Pandit also expressed how he feels that actors need to exercise discretion when playing such real-life characters.  He said “Especially, when you’re playing someone of the stature of Field Marshall Manekshaw or Mother Teresa. You can’t afford to go wrong on any detail. I am sure Vicky was only trying to tell the world he’s playing Manekshaw. But, even an announcement of this import must be made with befitting solemnity and accuracy. Copying the moustache and the posture from an old picture is not enough.”

Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw biopic will be Vicky and Meghna’s second project after Raazi. And we will have to see how Vicky does damage control over this picture gone wrong, till then, stay tuned to CineBlitz for more news and updates.
