After the release of her recent film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, Kangana Ranaut was again in the news for many reasons, one of which was her disappearance for eight days when she went for a spiritual course. Today, the curly-haired babe explained why she took that break and enrolled herself in the course. Below are all the details you might want to know about Kangana’s spiritual course.

Manikarnika was quite an adventurous journey for Kangana as it also marked her unplanned debut as a director as the actress stepped in to direct the film after it was abandoned by its former director midway. Kangana said that she was surrounded by negativity, and even though the film was praised and loved, the negativity was still around. She was criticized for overpowering the film, and then the video featuring her riding a fake horse went viral which brought in a lot backlash. All of this resulted in Kangana taking asylum in an ashram and enrolling for a spiritual course.

“I was kind of harrowed with the whole Manikarnika experience. My director abandoned the project. All of this came on to me with such a force. I wanted to get into direction. But it didn’t have to come like a tsunami, at gunpoint — directing in a situation, where everyone is feeling unsure. When the film finally came out and came out good, people loved it. But there was so much negativity from the backlog that came with it. I thrive on my confidence. I don’t know how to function without it. It’s the fuel of my personality. When I feel wronged, taken for a ride, I feel like a meek person. I felt like that,” said Kangana to a leading daily. Talking about the criticism, she added, “These people were all bullying me. Did you see the horse episode [a clip leaked from the making of the film]? This is mockery. A girl has pulled off these stunts for the first time. And there is this whole system working against it openly? I felt like it was scarring me. I have been associated with a guru’s ashram in Coimbatore, and this [retreat] was happening, exactly what I needed.”

After the much-needed getaway, Kangana is back and even addressed the media on her birthday last week. The actress will be next seen in Mental Hai Kya opposite Rajkummar Rao. And she’s also been roped in for the biopic of Jayalalithaa, which will mark her debut in the South Indian film industry.
