With internet getting the world closer and accessible to most, celebrities have built their strong brands thanks to social media. Celebrities take to social media to speak their mind, share light on social issues (sometimes), share fitness and motivational videos, or just go out full power for their film and brand promotions. But not everything on social media ends up positively. Here we share some top stories that celebrities posted on online that backfired.

# Shraddha Kapoor accused of cultural inappropriation

Instagram handle @DietSabya accused the actress of cultural in-appropriation when she posted her picture from Dabboo Ratnani’s 2019 celebrity calendar. In the shot, Shraddha is seen wearing a native-American headgear which holds a lot of significance to the natives both spiritually and traditionally. She has been slammed for this insensitive move, using the headgear as just an accessory. Wonder what the actress has to say about this.

# Esha Gupta trolled for racist comments on Arsenal footballer

Actress and Arsenal club ambassador Esha Gupta was seriously trolled online when she shared her personal chat screenshots on her Insta stories The screenshots showed Gupta making racist comments calling Nigerian footballer Alexander Iwobi a “gorilla”. Esha had a lot to say about Hardik Pandya’s sexist comments on Koffee with Karan, maybe she should start watching herself first. Don’t you think ? “Solves our winger issues. I can’t see that gorilla faced Iwobi running down the flank again. He’s so bad ya,” read the screenshot of her WhatsApp conversation with a friend. To which, Esha replied, “Haha… I don’t know why they don’t bench him more.” However, she did take to Twitter to apologise for her remarks, sharing:

# Sushmita Sen trolled today (January 30) after sharing post on marriage on Instagram

Country’s favourite Sushmita Sen today shared a post about marriage and the internet lost their mind and trolled her instantly. Sushmita posted a quote that read, “Whoever invented marriage was creepy as hell. Like I love you so much I’m gonna get the government involved so you can’t leave.” The trollers clearly didn’t get her humour and hit back at Sen trolling her on her views.

One troller wrote, “With government governance or rules it would have been an open jungle for anyone to do whatever he pleases without regard for other people’s feelings or sanity.” Another one commented, “No sush, It’s more than that. It involves bond comments n lasting vows of trust faith n togetherness. This is what marriage is all about. This makes us different from animals who just come together to mate n kinder d progeny. Nature zzz cycle. They lack faith n commitment. Marriage is divine bond which strengthen zz with d birth of a child.”

# Disha Patani trolled for insensitive traditional wear over Diwali

The actress recently posted a Diwali picture while being the face of Calvin Klein India. She paired lehenga bottoms with CK sports bra and the internet went nuts. The Bharat actress was brutally trolled for pairing up her traditional outfit with a sports bra, and it didn’t go down well with the Indian fans. Some fans reacted saying – “What kind of nonsense is this. At least don’t wear such clothes in Diwali,” read a comment while another added: “Don’t advertise your bra at least in Diwali.”

# Priyanka Chopra Jonas trolled for ‘inappropriate’ pictures with PM Narendra Modi

Priyanka Chopra’s meeting with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was quickly overshadowed by her choice of clothes for some reason. Chopra was trolled and called disrespectful for choosing to wear a knee-length dress that showed her legs in her meeting with the PM. It all started when Chopra posted a picture with Mr Modi, thanking him “for taking the time from his packed schedule” to meet her in Berlin. It didn’t take long though, before the “disrespectful” dress became the topic of conversation, with many commenting on how it “insulted” Mr Modi and his “pious followers.”

Priyanka being the unapologetic woman that she is hit back at the trollers with a very smart picture of her and her mother Madhu Chopra in a classy dress showing off their legs. Putting the trollers back in their place. Class act PCJ! Share your comments below!
