In 2009, India’s legacy content powerhouse ZEE TV and content czarina Ekta R Kapoor curated a show titled Pavitra Rishta which with 1424 episodes, ran for five long years on ZEE TV and made Archana and Manav an iconic couple everyone looked upto. The show lived in the hearts of the fans for many years so much so that Ekta R Kapoor (ALT Balaji) and ZEE5 decided to keep the legacy on by renewing the show, and naming it, ‘Pavitra Rishta…it’s never too late’. While Ankita Lokhande reprises her role of Ankita, tall, debonair Shaheer Sheikh has stepped into the shoes of Manav and together, they captured people’s hearts and minds. Now, ZEE5 is back with another season of the 08-Part Web series which premiered with a bang on 28th January.
Currently streaming Season 2 is centred on Manav and Archana, and how their marriage, which was based on a sham, falls apart only for them to realise that their Pavitra Rishta was never bound by just vows and responsibilities. It was in fact woven with love and faith, so strong that even destiny had to re-write its plan for them. As seen in the trailer, Manav and Archana’s story in season 2 starts from where their marriage ended, and they went their individual way only to cross paths time and again. While they never stopped loving each other and waiting for each other, but will they find their way back to each other as lovers and soul-mates?

Despite a few hitches and glitches that crop up in the narration, that seek refuge in ‘creative liberty’ immunity , overall the Season 2 on OTT of “Pavitra Rishta-S-2…it’s never too late” –is a romantic roller-coaster of ‘expect-the -unexpected’. An orgy of raw emotions, an undercurrent of manipulation and those flashes of infidelity (all is fair in love and relationships?) streaks of elite glamour all contribute to making the PR-S-2 a must-watch. The romantic retro filmy song-verses of ‘Saathiya Toone Kya Kiya’ is ingeniously segued as a backdrop which elevates the visual impact.
An emotionally engaging situation in a booze bar where a tipsy Savita-Aai (seasoned senior actress Usha Nadkarni raises-the-bar of brilliant acting) verbally sparring with Archana ( Ankita) is I would say a ‘bar-bar-dekho’ scene in Episode 8. Spunky oomph-oozing actresses Aseema Vardan as ‘Akanksha’ and Pooja Bhamrah as ‘Varsha’ are a delight to watch as they unleash their ‘acting-jalwa’ on-screen. One should also watch out for ‘Rajveer’ ( Vivek Dahiya) and fabulous actress Abhidnya Bhave ( popular actress in Marathi TV shows) who plays the outspoken ‘Manjusha’.
Acclaimed senior actress-turned-co-producer Bhairavi Raichura’s 24 Frames Production has helmed the digital series which will be exclusively available on ZEE5. Directed by Nandita Mehra (also co-producer) , written by Nikita Dhond, Gautam Hegde and Ritu Bhatia, ‘Pavitra Rishta…it’s never too late’ S2 is being widely watched and is garnering appreciation.
