Jhanvi Kapoor won our hearts with her performance in Karan Johar’s Dhadak. However, fans had been eagerly waiting to see the 22-year-old actress on the big screen with her next project soon. The news of her doing Karan Johar’s directorial Takth delighted fans and looks like Janhvi has another film in her kitty which will show her in a different light altogether. Other than the film based on IAF officer, Gunjan Saxena, the starlet will be seen in a horror comedy titled Rooh-Afza. Sound’s exciting, right?

The Dinesh Vijan film is a horror comedy. Rooh-Afza will feature Janhvi alongside Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma. Producer Dinesh Vijan confirmed the news by saying that they were looking for an actor who had not yet experimented with the horror comedy genre and Jhanvi was a perfect fit. The Stree producer felt that because the script is young and wonderfully crazy, Jhanvi will fit the bill perfectly as she is like this in real life. Interestingly, she will play a double role in the film. Her character’s Roohi and Afsana will be contrasting personalities and it takes us back to Chalbaaz days! Sriji had impeccable comic timing and it will be exciting to see Janhvi light up the screen too. In case you didn’t know, initially, Shraddha Kapoor was going to do this film, and we informed you in February that Janhvi replaced the Street Dancer 3D actress in the film.

“For Rooh-Afza we needed actors who could jump into their roles with unabashed conviction. Rajkummar and Varun are phenomenal actors, comedy is a space they excel in and own. For the female lead, we needed someone who could portray two contrasting personalities with ease and Janhvi stood out, she really connected with the script. Her talent is still raw, but she is excited about being moulded,” shared the Hindi Medium producer.

Directed by newbie Hardik Mehta, the film will be produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films in association with Jio Studios. In this film, Rajkummar and his buddies will face the consequences of another folk-lore in a comic way. Shoot for the film starts in Uttar Pradesh this June after Janhvi wraps up her other projects. With the film set to hit the theatres on March 20, 2020. Stay tuned to CineBlitz for more updates, news and gossip from the world of Bollywood.
