Just the other day, we had reported that Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthman would be released from Pakistan’s custody and will be brought back to India safely. Well, that has finally happened and it’s certainly a proud moment for all Indians to have their hero back home. As soon as the news broke that the Indian pilot was captured by Pakistan’s army, everyone on social media started praying for his safe return. Bollywood celebrities also joined in and soon #BringBackAbhinandan started trending on the web. Since the situation was quite tense between the two countries – India and Pakistan – Abhinandan’s safe return seemed like a farfetched dream.

However, yesterday when the Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan announced the news of his release, everyone on social media and otherwise was overjoyed. And now that the Wing Commander Abhinandan is back, the entire nation is celebrating and #WelcomebackAbhinandan is trending. Many celebs also took to the popular microblogging site Twitter and expressed their happiness. Shah Rukh Khan wrote on his Twitter account, “There is no better feeling than Coming back Home, for home is the place of love, hope & dreams. Ur bravery makes us stronger. Eternally grateful. #WelcomeBackAbhinandan.” Varun Dhawan, who is currently busy shooting for his film Street Dancer 3D said on Twitter,“Welcome back home #WelcomeBackAbinandan a true hero. These humane actions give hope that all humanity is not lost. Bharat mata ki Jai.”

Celebs like Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhwan, Karan Johar, Anupam Kher, Ritesh Deshmukh also shared their happiness via their social media handles.

For those unaware, after the Pulwama terror attack, India retaliated by carrying out an air strike on the terrorist camps of Jaish-e-Mohammed situated in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. Soon India and Pakistan were engaged in aerial combat during which Varthaman’s aircraft was shot down and he landed on the other side of the border. While many thought he went missing, later it was the Pakistan army who confirmed his capture.  For more such updates and news from Bollywood, stay tuned to Cine Blitz.
