Bollywood’s musical sensation Jonita Gandhi is at it again with her soulful voice, covering India’s nightingale, Lata Mangeshkar’s legendary track Aji Rooth Kar. Originally penned by Hasrat Jaipuri, the song will be featuring guitarist Keba Jeremiah who known for his multiple hits in movies like Rockstar, Raanjhana and Ok Jaanu. The track will be releasing under Sa Re Ga Ma and also on Jonita’s YouTube channel in addition to all audio streaming platforms. Jonita rose to fame with ‘The Breakup Song’ for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and this new cover just proves her versatility as a musician and performer.

The number, close to Jonita’s heart was an easy yes for her and she said, “Bollywood songs from the yesteryears bring out a different emotional connection within me. Aji Rooth Kar is one of those songs that was played often at home, and I loved learning from Lataji’s expressive singing. The cherry on top is that it’s one of my mom’s all-time favorite songs. I was as happy as always to collaborate with Keba for this one and I really hope you all like our interpretation of the song!”

Jonita recently lent her voice for south superstar Suriya’s film Kaappaann which was her first collaboration with music director Harris Jayaraj on the song ‘Hey Amigo’. For more news and updates from the world of showbiz stay tuned to CineBlitz!
