Ever since the first look of Nawazuddin Siddiqui – Sanya Malhotra’s Photograph was released, everyone’s quite excited, considering it is being helmed by Ritesh Batra, the director of the critically-acclaimed Lunchbox (2013). The film has already got a thumbs-up at its world premiere of the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. It went to the Berlin International Film Festival as well, where it garnered a favourable response from critics. But that’s not it! The movie enabled Sanya to earn a spot in the list of top five talents to watch out for too! So now all eyes were on the trailer of Photograph that released today (February 18) and we must say that it hits home with the cinema-lovers.
As revealed in the Photograph trailer, the film revolves around a struggling street photographer in Mumbai played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. He is under pressure from his grandmother to get married. He meets Sanya Malhotra, a shy student, but academically a topper. And inspite of their stark cultural and socio-economical differences, she agrees to pose as his fiancée. But clearly, the two develop a connection deeper than they expected to! The beauty lies in the realistic and simple approach that Ritesh seems to have mastered. In Ritesh’s words, “It’s a simple story that the audience will relate to and about people that audience will feel for.” Check out the trailer right here.
