Chandramukhi Trailer review By Chaitanya Padukone

Rating:

If the short, crisp engaging trailer of ‘Chandramukhi’ with acclaimed actress-trained-lavani-danseuse Amrita Khanvilkar flaunting her sensuous talents, is any indication, one can logically surmise that when movie is released (April 29th) it is bound to storm the box-office and create history. Directed by multi-talented Prasad Oak the ‘period’ (‘80s era) movie trailer with its backdrop of scheming politics, dramatic bold dialogues, emotional intensity, the avenging angst of infidelity with the topping of tantalizing musical ethnic dances shows abundant promise.

The formidable star-cast includes suave, macho Addinath Kothare and versatile oomph-girl Amruta Khanvilkar (‘Aata Vaazle Ki Baara’ from ‘Natarang’ song-dance fame) in the leads with Prajakta Mali and Samir Choughule also part of the cast. Foot-tapping brilliant songs are conjured up by the genius-composer duo Ajay-Atul.

When you hear the tracks sung by Shreya Ghoshal and also watch the grand mounting-picturization of the tamasha songs, you can’t help, but recall flashes of ‘showmanship’ that one gets to see in ‘showman’ Sanjay Leela Bhansali ethnic movie-songs. Even if you are a ‘non-Marathi’, this maverick musical movie ‘Chandramukhi’ (based on an amazing novel by Vishwas Patil) has the makings of a vibrant entertainer with volatile streaks backed by eloquent visuals and classy realistic treatment.
