Excitement is building high since news broke that an uncut and fresh take on Ranveer Singh’s massive hit Dhurandhar will drop on both Netflix and JioHotstar starting the very same date, creating an intense rivalry between the two big services.
On Thursday, details emerged about a raw and unseen edition of the opening chapter in Aditya Dhar’s high-octane espionage adventure hitting Netflix as well as JioHotstar from May 22.
This special version delivers a bold and direct viewing journey, giving fans a richer look inside the Dhurandhar universe filled with exclusive scenes made just for home audiences. Besides the main Hindi track, it comes in Tamil and Telugu too.
This decision sets up a huge face-off in the online world, as the platforms compete directly by putting out identical content at the exact same moment.
The streaming plan has got people on social sites both curious and puzzled. Some supporters love watching the two powerhouses fight over one title, while others question the choice to launch Dhurandhar across competing services together.
Dhurandhar came out in cinemas on December 5, 2025, followed by Dhurandhar 2 on March 19 this year. Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera, and Danish Pandor feature in the movies. The opening installment gathered 1307 crore rupees across the globe per Sacnilk reports, as the follow-up earned more than 1363 crore.
The stories follow Jaskirat Singh Rangi, also known as Hamza Ali Mazari, who heads to Lyari in Pakistan to dismantle a terror group. He joins a Baloch crew, weds the child of a local leader, and blends into the community to complete his mission.
Though audiences appreciated the sharp storytelling in the pictures, quite a few noted they appeared to highlight the BJP leadership’s work while minimizing past administrations’ successes. This sparked accusations of propaganda. After that, various stars ranging from Anupam Kher to Piyush Mishra stepped up to support the project.
