Jeethu Joseph’s beloved character Georgekutty, played by Mohanlal, returns in Drishyam 3 with fresh schemes to shield his loved ones. After dodging trouble in the earlier movies, the family faces renewed threats from their hidden history, forcing the clever dad to pull out all stops once more. But this time around, will his efforts keep everyone safe, or will the shadows of the past finally catch up? Spoilers ahead.
Mohanlal steps back into the shoes of Georgekutty for director Jeethu Joseph’s latest chapter in the hit series.
Georgekutty’s wife Rani, portrayed by Meena, along with daughters Anju played by Ansiba Hassan and Anu by Esther Anil, have tried hard to leave behind the painful memories from Drishyam and Drishyam 2. Anju has recovered from her past seizures thanks to counseling and can now watch her father’s movie without distress. Anu has matured into a bold young woman who questions traditional family rules and dreams of independence, while Rani plans home improvements since finances are no longer tight.
On the outside, Georgekutty appears successful as a film producer riding high on a big hit. He hopes to see Anju settled in marriage so she can move forward in life. Yet the local whispers about their old secrets never fully die down. Deep inside, the weight of his past actions to guard the household is wearing him down. His relatives remain unaware of how far he truly went, and he fears they might view him as a wrongdoer. Still, he watches for danger while promising them the old matter stays closed.
His confidence proves mistaken in Drishyam 3 as familiar faces reappear. Varun’s grieving parents Geetha, acted by Asha Sharath, and Prabhakar, played by Siddique, continue mourning their loss. Prabhakar aims to make amends in his wife’s eyes, since she felt he failed to act strongly after Anju caused their son’s death. The once-suspended officer Sahadevan, brought to life by Kalabhavan Shajohn who previously mistreated the family, returns as a bitter drinker seeking payback. Joined by Geetha’s acquaintance Bastian portrayed by Murali Gopy who helped restart the investigation, these determined individuals pursue justice, but Georgekutty manages to stay one step ahead.
Prabhakar seeks to make Anju answer for the tragedy by plotting to blame her for an offense she never committed. He tries to occupy Georgekutty with court matters tied to Varun’s incident to keep him distracted. When the family head discovers the scheme, he takes drastic measures by altering the setup at the scene and even injuring his own child to present her as innocent. Exhausted from endless chases, Georgekutty holds proof against Prabhakar yet chooses jail time for Varun’s killing to guarantee his relatives’ security.
Mohanlal hinted seriously about possible future installments when he mentioned Drishyam 4 and 5 could happen. With Georgekutty’s detention wrapping up the lingering investigation in this part, the film closes on a note suggesting unfinished business. Prabhakar inquires if Geetha feels content, but she insists on seeing Anju face consequences. Without any clear announcement for another movie, the unresolved close strongly prepares the ground for continued challenges ahead for the household, leaving Georgekutty little option but to continue his strategic battle.
