The X account of the viral satirical group Cockroach Janata Party got withheld in India right after it took off. Its founder shared proof of the block due to a legal request, and stars quickly jumped in with sharp comments.
A viral, satirical political movement known as the Cockroach Janata Party has grabbed massive attention across the country. Yet just days after it started, the group’s official X handle faced restrictions here. Well-known figures including Chinmayi Sripaada, Vir Das, and Prakash Raj shared strong reactions to the development.

The group’s creator, Abhijeet Dipke, used his own X profile on Thursday to post a picture showing the main account was now withheld. His message stated: “As expected Cockroach Janta Party’s account has been withheld in India.” The image clearly mentioned the action came in response to a ‘legal demand’.
“Why is Cockroach Janta Party withheld in India?” asked singer Chinmayi while resharing the update. “It’s giving full Streisand effect,” added comedian Vir Das with his usual witty touch, also reposting the same news. The Streisand Effect describes how trying to suppress information often makes it spread even faster and wider.

Not long ago, Abhijeet explained on X that the GenZ-focused effort aims to express disagreement using only calm and lawful ways. Prakash Raj shared that message and added, “Hope … this is what will happen .. the youth of my country will Rise..Resist and Reclaim, more power to you all and @Cockroach4India #justasking.”
He also reposted the announcement about launching a fresh X profile. The new account declared, “You thought you can get rid of us? Lol.” Actress Sanam Shetty praised the initiative too, saying, “In just a week #CockroachJantaParty has become the most massive power centre Nationwide!! It’s new and very promising but il wait to see the direction it takes! Wishing the best #VoiceOfYouth.”
What is the Cockroach Janata Party?
CJP started on May 16 thanks to 30-year-old political strategist Abhijeet. It began as a direct response to comments made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant in a courtroom session. He had remarked, “There are youngsters like cockroaches, who don’t get any employment or have any place in the profession. Some of them become media, some of them become social media, RTI activists and other activists, and they start attacking everyone.”
Even though CJP is not an officially registered political outfit, it put out a clear 5-point manifesto. In a short time after going live, the movement gathered 16.3 million followers on Instagram. The founder has also spoken about repeated efforts to break into the group’s Instagram page.
