The Covid-19 paved the way for the growth of the OTT market both in India and overseas. The audience, too, gave their approval to the OTT platforms as they no longer had to leave their home to watch the latest movies as everything was available to watch on their smartphones. While the list of releases on the OTT platform is long, here’s a list of movies that ruled the OTT platforms for us:
Bob Biswas on ZEE5
Bob Biswas a crime drama starring Abhishek Bachchan and Chitrangda Singh in the lead roles, the film is set against the backdrop of a love story, showcasing the dual life led by a contract killer, Bob Biswas. The film encapsulates the journey of Bob Biswas, a middle-aged hitman-for-hire who comes out of a prolonged coma not being able to remember any details about his life and his past including his own family. As he tries to remember his identity, episodes from his past come alive, putting him in a moral dilemma between the history of his own deeds versus his newly developed sense of right and wrong.
Rashmi Rocket on ZEE5
Rashmi Rocket brought to screen a story that sent chills down our spines. The movies shed light on a topic that not many in the audience were aware of. Rashmi, played by Taapsee Pannu, was a small-town girl who overcame the barriers of society to become a national-level athlete. However, further, in her career, she was forced to prove her identity as a female or face a lifetime ban from the sport. Akarsh Khurana directed this film.
Bell-Bottom on Amazon Prime Video
Bell Bottom was an engaging spy thriller that revolved around a flight hijacked by terrorists and how an undercover agent, Agent Bell Bottom, played by Akshay Kumar, overcame several challenges to save the people on the flight. The film was directed by Ranjit M. Tiwari and featured Lara Dutta, Vaani Kapoor, and Huma Qureshi in pivotal roles.
Haseen Dilruba on Netflix
Haseen Dilruba was an epic saga of love and thrills. The film revolves around a young woman obsessed with crime thrillers and was later framed by the cops as the prime suspect for the murder of her husband. The film has everything one can expect to watch on screen, from love to marriage to heavy drama embedded with a twist the audience would not expect. Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey, and Harshvardhan Rane were the torch bearers of this 2 hour and 16-minute suspense-thriller, directed by Vinil Mathew.
Dhamaka on Netflix
Dhamaka was a nail-biting thriller directed by none other than Ram Madhvani. The film tells us a story of a TV presenter, Arjun Pathak (played by Kartik Aryan), who gets a call from a man who promises to blow off the bridge if his demands are not met. The film gave the audience a chance to see Kartik Aryan in a different light outside of his lover boy image, which got him fantastic reviews.
