Sonam Khan, who has been a part of movies like Vijay, Aakhri Ghulam, Mitti Aur Sona, Ajooba, Tridev, to name a few, feels being healthy means a combination of diet and proper workout. Sharing her thoughts on the occasion of World Health Day, which is observed on April 7, she said, “Basically, when it comes to fitness, it’s all about moderation.”

“Diets don’t really work; therefore, how can the food that comes with a tag diet work? It’s not possible. It has to be a lifestyle change,” she added.

She further emphasized that eating right and healthy and including lots of green vegetables, pulses and fruits is the key to starting one’s fitness journey. She added, “If you are a non-vegetarian, then, of course, consume proteins in limited quantities. Like I said, everything should be in moderation, including diet and exercise, because sometimes one tends to overdo it in the gym and then come back and overeat at home, which basically mathematically doesn’t work.”

Sonam also pointed out that being fit, losing weight, and trying to maintain weight are all about mathematics. “It’s basic that whatever your intake is, your burning capacity should be greater than that. So, it’s very, very simple, everything in moderation,” she said.

When it comes to health, it’s mandatory to talk about aging too. She feels the process of aging is unnecessarily hyped and said, “One should be proud that they’ve lived, whatever their age is. And we go to the gym, we eat healthy, we look after ourselves, we look after our skin, and basically we want to look good, and we should be proud of our lines because every line has a story. Everything on your face and on your body that is gone through has a story. Aging not only by face but also body-wise, one should just accept it, embrace it. Believe me, you will be a happier person because there is always another person ahead of you. So, instead of looking at somebody, who is ahead of you, look at people and see how they are struggling, and be thankful for everything.”

“God has given you or the higher power has given you, one has to be very grateful because people are suffering a lot of health issues or sometimes surgeries go wrong, and it’s not like I’m against Botox and you know fillers and whatever; I’m okay with that, but not for me, but I don’t judge people who want to do it, but this is my take basically on aging. Aging is to be done, aging is inevitable. so may as well embrace it gracefully,” she ended.
