BJP youth member Priyanka Sharma taken to custody for making a Met Gala meme

Bharatiya Janata Party youth Morcha worker Priyanka Sharma was recently taken into custody for posting a photoshopped image of West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee. She posted it on her Facebook page. It was apparently a picture of Priyanka Chopra in her elaborate costume at the Met Gala 2019 with Mamata’s face morphed onto Priyanka’s face. It had then gone viral and some of them didn’t take it lightly.

The complaint was filed by Trinamool Congress leader Bivas Chandra Hazra, and said: ‘Priyanka Sharma posted a most awful post on Facebook on 9th May 2019 at 5 PM on her timeline i.e. she cut the face of Mamata Banerjee from a picture and pasted it on a picture of some model or something like that, which broke the community guidelines and is also an issue of violence. She does not just try to insult our Honorable Chief Minister, but she is trying to insult the culture of our Bengal by her post on Facebook and which is Cyber Crime.’
