Avengers: Endgame has been unstoppable at the Indian box office. In fact, after a record breaking start and the highest opening weekend collection of 2019 in India, it has managed to bag another massive record. Avengers: Endgame has now crushed Uri: The Surgical Strike‘s feat and become the highest box office grosser of 2019 in India. Surprised? Well, you would be, after all the Marvel movie has surpassed Uri‘s lifetime collection in just 6 day. Massive, isn’t it? For those of you who don’t know, Vicky Kaushal’s Uri: The Surgical Strike had collected around about Rs 244 crore over 100 days at the box office. And now, Avengers: Endgame raked in Rs 244.30 crore in just 6 days.
A Hollywood film crushing a Bollywood film in its home-ground pinches us, but it’s the fact. In fact, even with just 2800 screens, Avengers: Endgame has managed to achieve this feat. Several Bollywood biggies have got wider releases, but they’ve not been able to achieve this feat. Clearly, a lot has to be learnt! What do you guys have to say about this latest development? URI: The Surgical Strike, Kabir Singh, Bharat, Super 30 graced 100 crore club! Saaho, Dream Girl, Chhichhore look promising
It has been a good year at the Box Office for Bollywood so far with some more big releases lined for for the rest of the year.
The year started with Vicky Kaushal-starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike crossing 100 crores easily and reached 244 crore in India. In February came Gully Boy as well as Total Dhamaal with Rs 134 and Rs 150 crores, respectively. In the month of March, Kesari crossed Rs 151 crores, in June Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Bharat sailed at the box office with Rs 197 crore domestic collections. The same month, Kabir Singh became the highest-grossing film of the year so far with a collection of Rs 331.24 cr in India.
A month into the second half, Super 30 fetched Rs 150.43 crore in India. While the film is still running in some theatres, the final collection may see a slight increase in the numbers. This month has opened exceedingly well at the box office, with Mission Mangal and Batla House releasing on the same day. While the former has crossed Rs 107.56 crores in just five days, Batla House has reached to Rs 54.49 crores and with good word-of-mouth, it may touch Rs 100 cr club.
Even if they didn’t join the big three-digit order, there were projects that did well and almost got there. While Ajay Devgn-starrer De De Pyaar De made Rs 94 crores. Luka Chuppi at Rs 88 crores and Badla at Rs 87 crores were other big hits. Interestingly, three of the biggest flicks this year, Uri, Kabir Singh have set the cash registers ringing without any superstar power.
Here are some big upcoming releases:
The good days at the box office seem to be here to stay for the rest of the year, too, with Prabhas and Sharddha Kapoor’s Saaho, Nitesh Tiwari directorial Chhichhore, Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff’s much-awaited film War, Ayushman Khurranna’s Dream Girl on the anvil. Then, of course, there are multi-starrers Housefull 4 and Salman’s Dabangg 3 that have also generated a lot of excitement among the cine-goers. For more updates from Bollywood and show business keep reading CineBlitz.
Hrithik Roshan’s box office track record is impressive and here’s proof
Before Super 30 releases, we analyse Hrithik Roshan’s track record at the box office in the last few years
Superstar Hrithik Roshan has won many hearts over the years. And while we haven’t seen him much on the big screen in the past few years, now he is all set to return to 70 mm with a bang in Super 30. Since Krrish 3 (2013), we’ve seen him take gaps. Mohenjo Daro‘s debacle was also an all new low for him. There were a lot of questions asked about his super-stardom and where he stands at the box office. But Hrithik Roshan bounced back with Kaabil once again proving his mettle. Now, two years later, the actor is coming out with his most unconventional and intriguing film, a biopic on mathematician Anand Kumar titled Super 30. While the film releases today (July 12), it is expected to do quite well at the box office, and with this we get down to analysing his previous track record.
If you look at Hrithik Roshan’s run at the box office through his last five films, you will realise that all the flak he faced was useless. All his last five releases, except for Mohenjo Daro, have earned more than Rs 100 crore at the box office. In fact, his average per film box office collection over the last five releases is Rs 102 crore, which is huge. Some top stars also don’t promise such a return. Clearly, he does command a fan following and has done some decent films or else how would the movies work?
Here’s a break down of Hrithik Roshan’s recent box office track record:
|Sr. No||Film||Box office collection (in Rs crore)|
Talking about Hrithik Roshan’s track record, Akshaye Rathi revealed to us exclusively, “Hrithik is one of those actors who has some incredible assets in his bucket. He has got the looks, he is phenomenal with action, he is fabulous with dancing and he is terrific as an actor. He also commands a massive fan following, so that helps his track record at the box office. But a lot of his choices, in my opinion, have not done justice to his merit and popularity as a star. A lot of the films he did, could’ve been done by any star. However, there are certain films like a Bang Bang or a Krrish, which no other actor can do, like he can! He needs to use his stardom optimally.”
With Super 30 out today (July 12), we are keen to know how the film performs and how much of praise does Hrithik Roshan garner. In the meantime, stay tuned to CineBlitz for more Bollywood news, updates and gossip.
