Salman Khan – Katrina Kaif’s Bharat was one of the most-awaited films of the year. And it proved its might as it released on June 5. In fact, after a massive opening, the movie raked in huge amounts to end the first weekend at the box office on a high. Bharat amassed Rs 150.10 crore over its extended 5-day opening weekend. With that, it crushed Akshay Kumar’s Kesari and became the second-highest opening weekend grosser of 2019. A look at the first weekend collection of the 2019 releases proves it!
Currently, Avengers: Endgame is the highest opening weekend grosser of 2019. The Marvel release earned Rs 157.20 crore over its three-day weekend. In second spot is Bharat with an opening weekend tally of Rs 150.10 crore. Kesari comes in third place with a first weekend collection of Rs 80 crore. Gully Boy (Rs 72.50 crore) and Kalank (Rs 63 crore) complete the list of top 5 opening weekend grossers of 2019 in India.
The fact that Bharat‘s opening weekend tally is nearly twice of third place Kesari is a huge deal. But we need to take into consideration that the Ali Abbas Zafar-directorial enjoyed an extended five-day opening weekend. Also, the Hollywood release – Avengers: Endgame still continues to be the highest first weekend grosser of 2019, even though it had a normal three-day weekend. Clearly, Bharat could’ve done better. Obviously, it was affected by India’s Cricket World Cup 2019 match against Australia on day 5. Or else, Bharat would’ve surely powered past Avengers: Endgame and that would’ve been massive! Stay tuned to CineBlitz for more updates on this front.
Bharat: Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif’s film enters the Rs 200 crore club
Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bharat starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif has earned more than Rs 200 crores in the second week of its release
Salman Khan’s massive Eid release Bharat has been achieving milestones at the box office. The film that opened with breaking some records has entered the Rs 200 crore club in the second week of its release. Though the second week collection dropped with a huge margin the film still stood strong, making big moolah in the first extended weekend.
Bharat released on Eid (June 5) and got an extended weekend of nine days. The extra two days and the festival helped the film in taking a huge lead and the film went on to earn a total of Rs 180.05 crore in the first week. In its second week the film earned Rs 21.86 crore and with that the film entered the Rs 200 crore club. Now, Bharat stands on a total collection of Rs 201.86 crore at the domestic Box Office.
Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Bharat starred Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Tabu, Sunil Grover, Jackie Shroff and Disha Patani in pivotal roles. For more updates and gossip about Bollywood, stay tuned to CineBlitz.
Avengers: Endgame still behind Avatar
Avengers: Endgame needs to make $46 million more at the box office to beat Avatar
Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, the last installment of the hit franchise that began in 2008 with Iron Man, earned the highest-grossing opening worldwide in April this year (2019). However, it is still lagging behind the all-time highest grosser, Avatar, which released in 2009.
As per the worldwide box office collections, Endgame (directed by Russo Brothers) was stuck for a long time at $2.73 billion. It has only recently crossed the $2.74 billion mark. However, it is still $46 million away from the worldwide box office collection of the film Avatar which was directed by James Cameron This is also surprising since the superhero film boasts of stars is Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Brie Larson and Mark Ruffalo who played the most loved characters of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Captain Marvel and The Hulk respectively. The reason behind this could be the release of more movies by Disney and other big production houses this summer, whereas Avatar had a clear Christmas edge for its release.
Avengers: Endgame was the sequel of 2018’s highest-grossing movie Avengers: Infinity War. Let’s see if the Marvel fans help Endgame to become the world’s highest grossing film ever by crossing the mark set by Avatar. For more news and updates, stay tuned to CineBlitz.

Eeven Salman Khan’s Bharat doesn’t seem to have affected De De Pyaar De’s business too much. With the film still in cinemas there is a possibility of more growth.
