Naved Shaikh a.k.a Naezy the Baa is one of the most popular rappers in India. In fact, he is one of the pioneers of real hip-hop in India. So much so, that the film, Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, has been inspired by his life and struggles. However, even after so much love and nation-wide recognition, Naezy reveals to us exclusively how he still struggles to make his family understand his work and his love and passion for rapping. In fact, he even shares that his family doesn’t value his achievements and just want him to quit and instead do a 9-to-5 job and have a secure future.

Talking about his orthodox family, Naezy revealed in our exclusive video interview, “It’s been tough. My family put a lot of restrictions. When they came to know about my music, they started thinking a lot. They were apprehensive because no one in my family are or had been a part of this industry. The name of hip-hop is not so good. They used to see it on TV and they were scared I’ll get spoiled. They were protective about me. But I’ve been trying to make them understand. Their thoughts have changed, but they still ask me to leave. They are scared of the industry, especially with whatever is happening these days.”

Adding further, he reveals in the exclusive video interview, “They keep asking me to complete my education. They tell me to do a 9-to-5 job. They want me to settle down and be more responsible. So there is still some tension between us and they don’t value my achievements. They just want me to quit. I am sure they must be proud and they don’t tell me. But the struggle still continues.” Naezy even reveals that he has faced a lot of stress. In fact, he had even felt like quitting once and for all. However, the passion he has for rapping and hip-hop kept him going. What do you guys have to say about his revelations? Share with us your thoughts in the comments section below!
