Avengers: Endgame records the highest opening weekend collection of 2019 in India – read details

2019 has been a very fruitful year for films in India. We are nearing the first half of the year and have already seen many box office hits and critically acclaimed films. Last week, the much-awaited Marvel movie Avengers: Endgame arrived in theatres and stormed the Indian box office. So much so, that it became the biggest Hollywood opener and also the biggest opener of 2019 in India. And as if that wasn’t enough, the superhero movie has achieved one more feat. It has now recorded the highest opening weekend collection of the year.

As soon as Avengers: Endgame released in India, fans started thronging the theatres to watch the film. While Hollywood release was houseful over the whole weekend and finding tickets was tougher than finding infinity stones, it was very clear that the film is set to break records in India. No wonder, the film performed brilliantly over the first weekend and collected Rs 157.20 crore. With that, it left behind Akshay Kumar’s Kesari which was the highest opening weekend grosser till now with Rs 78 crore. The other three films on the list include Gully Boy on third with Rs 72 crore, Kalank on fourth with Rs 63 crore and the multi-starrer Total Dhamaal on the fifth position with Rs 62 crore.
