Cheat India preponed to January 18; Emraan Hashmi reveals the real reason

Emraan Hashmi’s Cheat India which was supposed to release on January 25, gets a new release date, announced Emraan in a press conference, with Yuva Sena leader Aditya Thackeray, director Atul Kasbekar, Bhushan Kumar, Tanuj Garg and Sanjay Raut, the producer of the film Thackeray, in attendance. Now Cheat India will release on January 18, a week before its desired release, and won’t clash with Thackeray.

Explaining his reasons for preponing the release date of his film, Emraan says, “We felt our film is a high concept film and a story that has never been touched before, so want our film to have a week to nourish.” The conference was also an announcement that there isn’t any fight or disagreement between the director, the producer of Cheat India, the producer of Thackeray and the Shiv Sena leaders. When asked about the threat posts doing the circles in social media, claiming that any film that comes in the way of Thackeray’s release would see a bad day, the producer of Thackeray, Sanjay Raut assured, “No Shiv Sena or Yuva Sena leader has ever ordered or asked someone to circulate such news, all these threats are baseless.”

This is the second time in two years that producers have come together and settled their release date issues in the same time period with mutual consent. Last year, it was Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Akshay Kumar who did it for their films Padmaavat and Padman respectively. Let’s see what difference the settlement this year brings to the collections of both the films.
