Bollywood’s inspiration from real life just doesn’t seem to end. John Abraham’s forthcoming Batla House is one such film that has been inspired by real events. The film is based on Operation Batla House that took place in 2008 and will have John Abraham essay the role of police officer Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, who has had to his credit 70 encounters, 33 cases, 22 convictions and 9 Gallantry Awards. He was also accused of one fake encounter.

Talking about playing Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, John Abraham says, “The responsibility is even bigger as this is the first time, I am playing someone who is still serving. If he (Sanjeev Kumar) thinks I am not good enough, he can shoot me (laughs)! So, I better be good at portraying him in the film.” The actor also said that to immerse into his character completely, he had to spend a lot of time with the cop himself. He added, “I spent a lot of time with Sanjeev and his wife Shobhna to understand his mindset, body language, the way he sits, stands, talks, reacts to situations and what he went through. I had a million questions for him. There were times when I was tempted to take creative liberties, but I refrained from that. I wanted to be true to the character.”

Batla House helmed by Nikhil Advani, also stars Mrunal Thakur in a pivotal role. It is slated to release on August 15 next month. Stay tuned to CineBlitz for more updates on Bollywood.
