Makkal Needhi Maiam party’s chief Kamal Haasan earlier took a stand against the autocratic attitude of the centre and Tamil Nadu government. It was after South actor Suriya Sivakumar was criticised by the ruling party All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham (AIADMK). And the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for his comments on the draft of the National Education Policy in 2019. Now, after Kamal backed Suriya, superstar Rajinikanth too has lauded Suriya for taking a stand against the policy.
At an event, Rajinikanth said, “Another face of Suriya was revealed a few days ago. The speech he gave on education and the questions he asked, I agree with several of them. It became a huge discussion and created awareness. And it did not become big because Suriya the star or actor spoke about it. It is because he spoke about the difficulties of the students associated with his Agaram Foundation. He has seen it with his eyes and has not simply made a statement. People said that if Rajini had said this, Modi would have heard it. But Modi would have already heard what Suriya has said.”
