Tigmanshu Dhulia’s soon-to-release Milan Talkies starring Ali Fazal and Shraddha Srinath is being much spoken about for several reasons. While the fresh pairing and the cute chemistry of the lead pair in the trailer and teasers is being appreciated, the industry is also talking about how the film is not the usual genre associated with the filmmaker, who is also acting in the film. While the filmmaker known for his hard-hitting films shares that this romantic genre is something he wanted to dabble in for a long time, he says that the acting bit in the film was purely unintentional.
Tigmanshu Dhulia will be seen playing Ali Fazal’s father in the film. Talking about it exclusively to CineBlitz he says, “Our first choice for the role was Pankaj Tripathi. We chased him a lot, and as much as he tried, his dates weren’t working out. So, finally we decided to cast me instead.” While the filmmaker has acted in films like Gangs of Wasseypur, and been highly appreciated for it, Tigmanshu says that acting and directing together is not the most fun thing to do. “It’s not easy trying to juggle being in front of the camera and behind it. Next time I’ll either act or direct, never doing both together,” he laughs. Check out the trailer of Milan Talkies right here:
Directed by Tigmanshu, Milan Talkies also marks the Bollywood debut of South actress Shraddha Srinath. Besides, Ali and Shraddha, the film also stars Ashutosh Rana and Sanjay Mishra in pivotal roles. The film is set to release on March 15 and will clash at the box office with Ritesh Batra’s Photograph starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra.
