Post the results of the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, the first parliament session was held with around 300 MPs. Sunny Deol who is contested from Gurdaspur attended the meeting for the very first time, Hema Malini was also a part of the session. However, both Hema and Sunny were seated in separate places during the meeting and we know why.

Usually, in the parliamentary meetings, seats are given according to one’s seniority. And while Hema has been in politics much before Sunny Deol contested in the elections, the two had to sit separately. Other than Sunny, others who made their debut in the Parliamentary session included singer Hansraj Hans, cricketer Gautam Gambhir, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and actor Ravi Kishan.

In Lok Sabha, each elected Member of Parliament has a designated seat, decided on the basis of a set pattern. The benches to the right of the Speaker of the House are reserved for the ruling party or alliance, whereas left benches are allotted to the elected members of the opposition. Front rows on the right are occupied by the Prime Minister, cabinet ministers and other senior leaders of the ruling party. The Leader of the opposition and of the non-ruling parties sits in the first row on the left. Middle rows are allotted according to the seniority of the MPs. The last benches are often allotted to newcomers. So, we guess you know why Dharmendra’s son Sunny and his wife Hema Malini sat separately. The next session of Lok Sabha is on June 6, 2019.
